The cooperation partners of PATH: certified breast centers and the associated pathologies.
Surgery, removal of the tumor tissue, its preparation and storage go hand in hand.
As those affected, the PATH founders are well acquainted with the concerns of cancer patients. For this reason, certified breast centers were chosen as cooperation partners. These are characterized by high case numbers of primary breast cancer operations and good interdisciplinary treatment.
In the breast centers, the surgery is performed in which breast cancer tumor tissue is removed. In the pathologies of the clinics, the breast cancer tissue is prepared for PATH and stored at the lowest temperatures for research.
After the establishment of the PATH Foundation, a decentralized biobank with several locations in Germany was established. Here is an overview of the current locations:
At the former PATH sites in Bochum, Bonn and Regensburg, it is no longer possible for patients to actively store breast cancer tissue. The tissue samples originally stored there were taken over from the PATH sites in Marburg and Kassel.
